Fee Schedule (Reports & Impounds)

The Avon Police Department maintains a number of public records available to the general public. In compliance with state statutes that govern the fees associated with these records, the Town of Avon has established a fee schedule. Please note that all payments must be made in exact money order or cashier's check. Effective October 1st 2016, the Town of Avon has adopted a no-cash handling policy for the Avon Police Department. Fees may be paid by money order or via debit/credit card transactions for the following fees ($3 bank fee is assessed for each card transaction):

Accident Reports - $10

If you are looking to obtain an accident report, remember that officers have three working days to complete their report. Officers typically complete reports at the end of their shift, but occasionally if additional information is needed or if the investigation is pending, accident reports may not be immediately available.

Accident reports are not required by state law if there is less than $1,000 in damages, no one is injured, and drivers have exchanged pertinent information. Accident reports can be obtained 24 hours a day from the State of Indiana by using a credit or debit card at the BuyCrash website for $12.

Background Investigation - $7

Local records checks/background investigation reports are available from our agency. The records check will include a regional review of any criminal activity on the individual in question as well as an exhaustive review of our agency records. A brief narrative and copies of any relevant documents are included in the final report.

To request photos of an accident or incident please call 317-272-4485 and speak to the records division. Photographs are provided on a CD-R. Photo fees must be pre-paid.

Depending on the nature of the underlying impound, additional documents may be required at the discretion of the Avon Police Department.
