Community

Avon is one of the fastest growing communities in Indiana. The growth can be attributed to a number of factors including its outstanding educational system of four star schools and public library, business-friendly location and climate, a wealth of retail and shopping alternatives and first-class parks and recreational facilities and programs. There are over 30 parks and 5 golf courses located within 7 miles of the center of Town.

Incorporated in 1995, Avon is a friendly community that developed around the intersection of a major U.S. highway (US 36) and a major Indiana roadway (SR 267, now known as Avon Avenue).

Avon was the first community in Hendricks County designated as a Tree City USA and was the first community in Hendricks County to enact an ordinance to create smoke free workplaces.

The neighborhoods that comprise Avon include an active and involved citizenry who take pride in the history and future of their community. Visitors to the area can find out more about local attractions and amenities by visiting the website of the Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
