Drug Disposal Program

Drug Dropoff Box

Our program disposes approximately 1,500 pounds of unwanted or expired medications each and every year!

The Avon Police Department offers a completely free and anonymous opportunity to dispose of unwanted or expired medications. Our agency has an agreement with local industries that help to properly destroy these materials in a safe and environmentally friendly way.

If you have narcotics that you want to dispose of responsibly, please bring them to the Avon Police Department.  Simply walk into our lobby and provide your expired and/or unwanted prescriptions to one of our staff members with no questions asked. You are not required to provide identification nor provide any additional information.

While we are able to dispose of narcotics, we are unable to accept sharps with this program, however we do facilitate a sharps disposal container in our lobby for a small amount of individual used sharps. Our agency is not able to accept any items containing mercury.  If you have questions regarding how to properly dispose of any unwanted medications in your home or within your family, you can contact our agency at 317-272-4485 to inquire with our officers.

Citizens disposing of medications are not required to be residents of the Town of Avon.
